The winner of the Digitization Award has demonstrated broad application in the construction industry with its BIM-based LCA calculator, marking them as a clear frontrunner.

A vital solution

The winner's work represents a vital solution to address challenges across construction stakeholders in a new complex construction reality, it adds.

LCA calculations, also known as life cycle assessments, are about the climate impact of buildings. This now award-winning calculator can calculate CO2 emissions from construction and building operations in the early design stages.

According to the Copenhagen-based company Formfaktor, it can streamline consultants' work, make it easier to get an overview of the climate impact of construction projects and help consultants ensure that projects comply with all LCA requirements in the building regulations.

A frontrunner

Formfaktor is a company that works to facilitate better design processes in both construction and landscape planning.

- This is a project that can help the industry make the right decisions, says jury member Mette Glavind, Director and PhD, Danish Technological Institute.

She believes the winning project is a role model and a frontrunner.

- DesignLCA helps to document the requirements for a building, and in this way it is something that can benefit the industry and the green transition," she says.

Companies and organizations such as MOlio and ConTech Lab, Tekniq, Byggeriets Uddannelser, Københavns Kommune and DBI Brand og sikring were also represented in the jury that chose the winner of the Digitization Award.
